Plate Under Tension
A plate with a hole is made of structural steel and is fixed on the left vertical surface while the right face is subjected to pulling pressure. Static Structural analysis is run to obtain the stresses and deformation to compare with theoretical values obtained mathematically.
Circular Plate with Uniform Pressure Load
A thin circular plate is subjected to uniform pressure on its flat surface. The plate is made of structural steel, and its circular edge is fixed. The change in total deformation is observed as the pressure is doubled.
Heat Transfer from Wall
A Steady-State Thermal Analysis is run on a furnace wall that has two layers of firebrick and insulating brick. The furnace temperature and the unit-surface conductance at both the inside and outside walls are given. The temperature distribution and heat flux through the wall to examine the concepts of thermal resistance and conductivity.
Shrink Fit Analysis of a Roller
Static structural analysis is run on a hollow cylinder that is shrink-fitted inside another. They are constrained in the axial direction, while free to move in radial and tangential directions. The maximum tangential stresses and deformation in both cylinders are plotted to observe the effects of contact pressure.
Modal Analysis of a Hood Latch
A static structural and modal analysis is run on a hood latch to determine its stresses and vibration characteristics (natural frequencies and mode shapes). The modal shape at various frequencies is plotted to show the deformation of the initial shape.
Thermal Stress Analysis of Pump Housing
A Thermal stress analysis of the following pump housing is simulated to examine the stress caused by heat. The housing is held at a constant temperature. The interior surfaces of the pump are kept at a constant temperature of 90 C by the fluid and the exterior surfaces are modeled using a simplified convection correlation for stagnant air. The structural failure of the system is examined.
Thermal analysis of a Microchip Assembly
A Thermal transient analysis of a microchip assembly is simulated to examine thermal distribution. The effect of the heat sink is observed over time to determine the maximum heat and if overheating is going to occur.
Fluid Analysis of Static Mixer
Fluid enters a static mixer from two inlets at same velocity and different temperatures. The behavior of the fluid is examined by plotting temperature, pressure, and velocity streamlines. This is used to determine the condition of the fluid at the outlet or any other required point.
2D Flow analysis of a Car
A fluid flow analysis is run on a 2D version of a car to examine the velocity, pressure, and turbulence at different points. The drag coefficient is also obtained through this simulation to be compared with data available online.
